Simon Hoare MP for North Dorset comments on PM's call for general election
The Prime Minister, Theresa May, has called for a general election on 8 June 2017.
Following the Prime Minister’s call for a general election on 8 June 2017, Simon Hoare, MP for North Dorset said: “It has been an honour to represent North Dorset since the General Election of 2015 and I look forward to seeking a fresh mandate and re-election in June.
“The PM was clear in the reasoning behind her announcement today: the UK needs a purposeful and trusted government committed to delivering a programme of domestic reform, economic recovery and a successful delivery of the Brexit process.
“I am confident that the good sense of the British People will re-elect the Conservatives and the Prime Minister. I hope that I too will be re-elected to continue serving my constituents of North Dorset.”
For the election to go ahead, the Prime Minister must win a two-thirds majority in a vote in Parliament tomorrow. According to The Independent, Labour and Lib Dems have given their support to the election already, meaning it will pass.
A poll for The Independent puts the Tories 21 points ahead of Labour.
