The Ringwood Armed Forces Day fly past by a Dakota due to take place on 25 June has been cancelled as it is not fit to fly.
Instead a Spitfire will do the honours. Organiser Steve Nash said, “While some may be disappointed about the Dakota, I have to say I am over the moon that we now have a visit from a Spitfire. It’s my all time favourite.” The event with more than 20 vintage vehicles, a display from the Royal Signals based at Blandford, army recruiters from Salisbury, live music, re-enactors and cannon fire will take place on Carvers playing field in Ringwood. The Spitfire is due to arrive at around 3.45pm.
