Lewis-Manning Hospice in Poole is inviting locals to join them for special ‘21’ themed Summer Solstice Starlight Stroll. The annual fundraising event takes place on Friday 21 June at 9pm to celebrate the hospice’s 21st birthday and participants can also watch the sunset.
The multi-ability 7km Starlight Stroll takes a circular route from Whitecliff Park, along Baiter and Poole Quay, returning through Poole Park. Last year walkers were joined by local Bad Girls, Coronation Street and The Impressions Show star Debra Stephenson.
Fundraising Manager, Maria Tidy, said, “The Starlight Stroll is one of our biggest and most exciting events of the year. It’s a great opportunity for people to get involved and raise funds for a local charity, have fun, and get some exercise. It’s also a chance for people to help us celebrate our 21st birthday.”
All ages and abilities are welcome and fancy dress is welcomed. People are also encouraged to get a team together and join in the fun and bring light to the lives of local people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
The registration fee for the Starlight Stroll is £10 for adults and £5 for children (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult), which includes free flashing head boppers, halfway refreshments and medals for all. The suggested minimum sponsorship is £30 for adults and £15 for children. Fancy dress is optional but very much encouraged!
Lewis-Manning offers free specialist palliative nursing care to around 650 local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
