String of spring half term events with Dorset Wildlife Trust
Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) is celebrating the welcome change of the seasons from winter to spring with a host of exciting and adventurous activities for children to get involved with at DWT visitor centres and nature reserves this half term.
DWT visitor centres and nature reserves will be hives of activity this half term.
In east Dorset, accompanied children under 11 years can get wild with Forest School sessions on Tuesday 14 February and Thursday 16 February at Upton Country Park from 10am–12pm. Enjoy woodland themed activities, crafts and games, where kids can interact with nature and learn a little, too. £5 per child. Booking is essential on 01202 692033 or email kwilkinson@dorsetwildlifetrust.org.uk.
Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre will be celebrating its love for wildlife on Valentine’s Day when children can make gifts for the creatures in their gardens. Crafts range from 50p–£3. Children must be accompanied.
If you fancy finding out about our marine wildlife, visit the DWT Fine Foundation Marine Centre at Kimmeridge on Wednesday 15 February from 1.30pm–3.30pm for the seal rescue event: turtle the seal is in trouble! Join our rescue squad and learn how to save her from danger in the sea. £2.50 per child.
In Weymouth there are events at Lorton Meadows (16 February) and Withy Woods (17 February). £2.50 including games with the conservation officer. Booking is essential on 01305 816546 and children must be accompanied.
The Chesil Challenge will take place on 18 February where children can explore a treasure trail inside and outside the centre from 11am–1pm looking for clues to solve puzzles.
