The Mayor of Christchurch pressed the switch to turn on 789 energy-efficiency LED light bulbs along 263 metres of cabling as a Mudeford care home began its Christmas festivities.
Councillor John Lofts and Mayoress Margaret Wooley were guests of honour among more than 60 visitors at Colten Care’s Avon Reach residential and nursing home.
The switch-on was the centrepiece of a party in and around the Farm Lane home involving carols, an appearance by Santa and refreshments including mulled wine, roast chestnuts and mince pies.
The event was free for the public but donations were collected for charities that the home supports.
