Bournemouth Hospital Charity is hosting a special event this Friday (30 January) for anyone interested in its ‘Great Wall of China Trek’.
Taking place in April 2016, the challenge takes adventurers along the 2,000-year-old wall which stretches through beautiful woodland, farmland and between hills and mountains. The 70km challenge is physically demanding but extremely rewarding and gives a real insight into China’s history and culture.
The expression of interest event will give potential trekkers a greater insight into the 10 day experience and is being held at 4pm at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
The fundraising target for the challenge is £3,150 and the Charity Team can help with ideas of ways to help achieve the fundraising target.
Eileen Wright, who has walked the Great Wall of China to raise funds for the hospital, said: “Walking the Great Wall of China was a truly memorable experience and an achievement that I’m really proud of.
“The initial amount might seem like a lot of money to raise but planning regular events and getting the support from your friends and family makes it easier. I raised the money through lots of tombolas and raffles and exceeded the target.
“If you’re thinking about taking part just go for it. It’s a once in a lifetime experience that is unforgettable and an amazing way to help raise money for your local hospital.”
