Sixteen-year-old Charlie Williams is cycling ten miles to raise money for Leonard Cheshire Disability.
Three years ago Charlie took part in the London Mini Wheelchair Marathon, raising over £3,000 for two local charities, Poole Sailability and Victoria Education Centre’s Sparkle Appeal.
This time he is taking part in the Cycle Together event on Sunday 29 June, starting from King’s Park in Bournemouth and heading to Christchurch and back. Charlie, who has cerebral palsy, will be riding his specially adapted trike, and will be accompanied by his Mum and Dad, Lynnet and Adrian.
“One of the things that attracted me to this event is that it is open to everyone, whatever their ability,” said Charlie. ” So far, my friends have been very generous, but it would be great to raise even more money.”
Charlie has just left Queen Elizabeth’s School in Wimborne, and will be attending Victoria Education Centre’s Post-16 provision in September. “Having helped with the Sparkle Appeal, it is nice to be able to benefit from their fantastic new swimming pool,” he says.
