Two budding local chefs have won through to the regional round of the Rotary Young Chef competition. They are now just one step away from the national final.
Harry Gatehouse, 16, from Prospect School, Havant scooped the top prize, a voucher for £50; Sian Davies, 14, from Priestlands School, Lymington was only narrowly beaten into second place and collected a £30 voucher and Charlotte Woodland, 15, from Corfe Hills School took third place and a voucher for £20.
Harry and Sian move on to the South West regional heat to be staged at Poole Grammar School in March.
All three judges praised the level of cuisine displayed by all involved in the competition, a point amply demonstrated, they said, by the small difference in points between the top and bottom placed competitors.
All competitors are asked to design and prepare a three course meal for two in 2hrs, the main ingredients to cost no more than £15 and the finished meal to be presented on a table setting laid by them.
