For the third event of 2018, Metropole Market organisers have announced a ‘Circus of Horrors’ inspired theme, the ‘Twisted Circus’ that will take place on 29 July.
Taking inspiration from sources like American Horror Story, Circus of Horrors and The Greatest Showman, and with help from Bournemouth’s Ultimate Goth Emporium and Dark Side of the Mirror, sword swallowers, fire artists and other bizarre circus characters will join Metropole’s ebullient cast of entertainers to amaze the public with eccentric street performances.
Emma Cat, circus performer and hula hoop expert, described as a ‘femme ferale’ will bring her fluid style of dance hoop, which has wowed audiences across the globe. She will be joined by ‘Acrobambarta’ from Kenya, a group of African acrobats who will amaze with their extraordinary human feats of balance and agility.
As usual, the market will feature a wide range of food and drink, including Mexican, Thai and Indian street food, alongside traditional circus food such as popcorn, candyfloss and hot dogs.
Lyn Turnbull, co-organiser of the Metropole Market and co-owner of Mexigo Burrito Bar on Holdenhurst Road, said, “The theme of the third market is set to amaze, intrigue and provide the greatest show in Lansdowne and not one for the squeamish! The market aims to be a glorious demonstration of nature’s diversity, celebrating the eccentric arts of the circus as characters like Lobster Boy, Tattooed Lady, and Bearded Lady will join our entertainers and traders to deliver a memorable day for all.”
Open from 11am until 5pm, Metropole Market is supported by the Town Centre BID. It will continue its series of markets on the last Sunday of each month in September and October with a break in August.
