The family and friends of a former patient at Lewis-Manning have raised over £4000 for the hospice following his death last year.
Tyrone ‘Ty’ Mills, who was 47 and had cancer, had been a regular patient at the hospice in the months leading up to his death in December. Following his funeral his family and friends decided to host a big fundraising event as a thank you to the hospice for his care and this week presented them with a cheque for £4,151.
Stacey Turner, whose husband was one of Ty’s oldest friends, coordinated the charity event with her friend Cate Ferguson which was held on December 20 in Champs Bar at Poole Stadium.
Stacey said, “Ty loved visiting Lewis-Manning and received wonderful care there.”
Sara Johnson, Community Fundraiser at Lewis-Manning, said, “We were so touched to hear that Ty’s family and friends were rallying together to do something wonderful at such a hard time for them all. It is a true example of community spirit and we are so thankful for all the hard work and effort that went into organising the evening.”
