Ferndown Middle School pupils and staff took part in the traditional two minute silence on Armistice Day. The assembly was led by the school council who spoke about the importance of Remembrance Day. Pete Thornton, founder of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) also shared his very emotional story of why the day is so important.
A moving performance of the Last Post was played by a former pupil, Ben Kinch.
As part of the pupil’s reflection, they donated coins to cover a large poppy.
Money raised will go towards JTYAF, which provides scholarships and bursaries for the training and personal development of young people in memory of the Lt John Thornton, who was tragically killed in action.
