A popular event in Southbourne welcomed thousands of visitors from the local community and around the country between 1 and 3 July.
Guests were encouraged to jump, jive, lindy hop and swing with vintage music and first class entertainment at the Shake & Stir Vintage Festival, which took place at various venues across the town.
The line-up of family fun included talented local musicians and artists including the Bournemouth University Big Band, The Land Girls and Jitter Jive Lindy Hop Club. Hotrods, classic cars and bikes, Punch and Judy entertainer and ‘Diamond Faces’ face painting as well as a wide variety of tasty food and drink stalls provided by local businesses helped put Southbourne on the tourist map.
The unique event was organised by three local business people, Fiona McArthur, Mandy Payne and Nigel Broughton, in an effort to raise the profile of the town and its local businesses. It was held in association with main sponsors Coastal BID, title sponsors Brewhouse and Kitchen Southbourne, Steele Raymond and support from the Southbourne-on-sea Business Association.
Mandy Payne said: “After the most popular event to date, with thousands of visitors, I am already eager to begin planning next year’s highly anticipated event!”
