Volunteers needed as welcome hosts in Dorset
Organised by Volunteer Centre Dorset, you could welcome visitors at a variety of coastal and inland places of interest across the county.
Volunteer Centre Dorset has some interesting vacancies over the coming months.
With the ongoing pandemic and the restrictions on overseas travel, an increase in visitors to tourist hotspots in the UK is anticipated. Based on the experiences from last year, Dorset attracts a lot of tourists and the centre wants to ensure that visitors and locals have access to information, advice on facilities, and alternative places of interest etc.
Consequently, the centre is looking for volunteers to act as ‘welcome hosts’ in their local area from the end of May until September. This does not include Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Areas will include coastal and inland locations, with exact areas currently being finalised.
Volunteers are welcome from the age of 16 upwards (although volunteers under 18 will need parental consent). Volunteers would need to make a minimum shift commitment of ten shifts and be able to be active for the shift duration as the role will be in the style of a roaming patrol. Shifts may run up to seven days a week in some locations and there will be two shifts per day. Shifts should be three-four hours in length. Good communication skills and local knowledge would be an advantage. Full training will be provided.
Volunteer Centre Dorset is using an online platform for this opportunity, including communication, training and shift management. Once registered you will have control of your own information, be able to update your availability, sign up for this opportunity and more in the future, including receiving regular communication depending on the consents provided.
