Despite the wet weather, the children of Trinity CE VA First School, Verwood have been walking, scooting or cycling to school. The walk, scoot or cycle to school week was organised by the school council and launched the school’s involvement with ‘Sustrans’, which encourages people to use other modes of transport rather than cars. School council pupil Jacob Clarke said: “We want to stop people polluting the environment by encouraging them to walk, scoot or cycle to school”.
During the week the children and adults brought their bikes into school where they were checked for safety by Darren Orchard from ‘Sustrans’. Their vision is ‘A world in which people choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment’. The school council is planning another week in the spring term.
