Twenty five local solicitors firms from across Dorset and Hampshire have raised £5,500 for Lewis-Manning Hospice in Poole by taking part in its ‘Make A Will Fortnight’ scheme.
It was set-up to not only raise vital funds for the Poole charity, which offers free specialist palliative nursing care to around 650 local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, but also to help increase awareness about the importance of gifts in wills.The annual event started in 2009 and this year 39 offices from Swanage to Lymington took part, with each firm of solicitors offering to write a standard will for free in return for a donation to the hospice.
Sally Goodenough, Legacies Fundraiser at Lewis-Manning Hospice said: “We really appreciate all the effort and hard work the solicitors put into raising so much for local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. We also hope that everyone who made a will now can have peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are taken care of.”
