Wing-walking Mayor will be taking to the skies
It’s two weeks until the Mayor of Bournemouth Edward Coope joins up with Emma Heath and Mikala James from local charity Faithworks Wessex to wing walk to raise funds for the local community.
The Mayor of Bournemouth will be Wing-walking with the Aero Superbatics Team at their base in Cirencester on 3 April. He’s teaming up to raise funds for the Mayor of Bournemouth’s Charity Appeal and for Faithworks Wessex.
Councillor Coope was with the British Army in 1981 so is not afraid of a challenge. As the exciting day approaches the Mayor of Bournemouth said, “I am looking forward to taking part in the Wing Walk with Emma from Faithworks Wessex to raise money for her charity and the Mayor’s charities. Hopefully the weather is good on this day and all goes ahead; please support us for this event by sponsoring us.”
Emma Heath (operations manager) and Mikala James (SMILE project worker with lone parents) from Faithworks Wessex will also be participating, just so the Mayor doesn’t feel alone.
Faithworks Wessex is a local charity working to inspire and equip people on their journey out of isolation and poverty, working with lonely and isolated people across the borough, including the homeless, lone parents, the elderly, carers, and those in financial crisis. This winter alone they have supported over 36 people who have been living on the streets of Bournemouth into accommodation through the project Sleepsafe that won the Mayor’s Group of the Year Award in 2016.
Emma Heath, said,“We love joining forces with the Mayor of Bournemouth and are so excited to be embarking on this dare-devil challenge and taking charity fundraising to new heights. I personally value the work of Faithworks so much that I am willing to do such a challenge to help support the wonderful continuing work supporting the most vulnerable and isolated people in Bournemouth”
The vision for this challenge is to not only raise vital funds but also to raise awareness that there is hope in crisis and that people are willing to go to any lengths to support people who often feel that they have lost hope.
