Following the Christchurch Chamber of Trade’s request for a ‘£1 for two hours’ parking rate in town centre car parks, Christchurch Council is asking for residents’ and visitors’ views on the proposal.
People can give their views in a questionnaire at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/C855Q9F.
Alternatively, paper copies are available at Christchurch Civic Offices, Christchurch Information Centre and Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre.
Cllr Claire Bath, Portfolio Holder for Economy at Christchurch Borough Council, said: “The Chamber of Trade has gathered signatures in a petition asking for a £1 charge for two hours’ parking in our town centre car parks. We are keen to work with the chamber to increase footfall in our town and use of our car parks.
“The proposal may mean that anyone parking for a shorter time than two hours would still have to pay £1. We would like to know how people feel about this and whether they support the proposal.”
Current cheapest cost in Christchurch for one hour’s parking in a council run car park is 80p.
Responses should be returned by 5pm on 22 October 2013.
