100 homes could be built on land near Verwood
An area used for grazing horses could be developed into an estate with 100 properties near Verwood.
Up to 100 new homes could be built near Verwood, after plans were submitted to Dorset Council requesting planning permission for a new development covering 6.6 hectares — equivalent to 10 football fields.
The plans, submitted in late July, feature around 100 properties including a mix of open market houses, affordable housing, and several flats, on a parcel of land south and west of Manor Road and to the east of St. Michael’s Road, Verwood. The land is currently used for the grazing of horses.
The developer appears to be Elivia Homes, a Hampshire-based developer that specialises in building luxury new homes.
While the proposed development covers 6.6 hectares, most of this is earmarked for green space and developing a Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANG). The properties will cover around 2.5 hectares. As a result, Dorset Council has so far decided that the development will not need an Environmental Impact Assessment.
