Lewis-Manning Hospice raised over £1500 last week with the charity’s special ’21 themed’ Summer Starlight Stroll, which saw both supporters and staff complete the 7km evening circular walk from Whitecliff Park, along Baiter and Poole Quay, returning through Poole Park.
The annual fundraising event took place last Friday (21 June) at 2100 hours to celebrate the hospice’s 21st birthday and participants were able to watch the sunset at 21.21pm. People of all ages and abilities participated, including dogs, with a few people even dressing up for the occasion.
The hospice, based in Sandbanks, Poole, offers free specialist palliative nursing care to around 650 local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
Paul Tucker, Marketing and Communications Officer at Lewis-Manning Hospice said: “It was a very successful night with fun had by all. The weather was also kind to us and everyone was thrilled with how much was raised. It will really help to make a difference to our patients.”
