QE students speak up

Sixth formers at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Wimborne are celebrating after reaching the final of a competition run by the Speaker of the House of Commons.
The Rt Hon John Bercow MP’s invitation to schools through the UK to take part in the Speaker’s School Council Awards resulted in 700 entries.
QE’s project ‘Supporting QE’s wider community through charitable actions’ impressed the judges, including the Speaker, leading to the accolade of runner up in the 16-19 category.

Jitsu’s endeavour award winner announced

There was a host of VIP visitors at Ferndown Jitsu on 2 July, who congratulated Sensei Jordan Lea on winning the Charlotte Read Award for Endeavour 2014. Sensei John Hanrahan said, “Well done Jordan and keep up all the good work you do at the club.”

Hurn swing time thanks to donation

Playtime is going with a swing in Hurn thanks to the generosity of a Dorset company.
Eco Sustainable Solutions has donated £6,000 to pay for a new set of children’s swings in the play area at Moors Close.
The company, which is based in nearby Parley, offered the money after being approached by Hurn Parish Council.
