Animal Defenders International (ADI) has applauded the overwhelming rejection at CITES’ (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) 17th conference in Johannesburg of Swaziland’s attempt to legalize trade in Southern White Rhino Horn. There was great opposition to the controversial proposal, including actress Joanna Lumley, who voiced her support for ADI’s campaign.
Additional marine areas in Dorset have been identified for protection in a new report, ‘The case for Marine Conservation Zones’ which has been published by the Wildlife Trusts. The report identifies 48 areas around England that, if designated, will complete a “blue-belt” of protected places for marine wildlife.
Junior runners will soon have a parkrun of their own at Moors Valley Country Park and Forest near Ringwood. It will launch on Sunday 13 November at 9am and children from 4 to 14 can take part in a new regular weekly event.
Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, has thanked Barclays HR Operations department which fundraised and purchased a summer house, then built and painted it for one of the charity’s supported living properties.
