MISSING: Sarah Fenton
The husband and family of a woman who went missing from a cross channel ferry have made a public appeal – three years after she disappeared.
Sarah Fenton, of Fishponds in Bristol, was last seen by her husband Andrew at around 4.30pm on Sunday 1 April 2012 as they travelled on a Condor Rapide high-speed car ferry from Guernsey to Poole.
It was feared Sarah may have gone overboard and her disappearance sparked a major sea search involving the coastguard helicopter, RNLI lifeboats from Weymouth and Alderney and the air search aircraft from the island.
A French lifeboat from Normandy and military helicopter from Cherbourg also took part, while the Condor Rapide and several small boats and fishing vessels were also engaged in the search.
Nothing was found.
Appeals were made in the days following Sarah’s disappearance urging anyone who was on the ferry at the time to come forward.
Sarah still remains missing and her family and friends are keen to establish exactly what happened that afternoon.
In a statement, Sarah’s family said: “It has been three years since Sarah disappeared and we all miss her greatly. If anyone has any information about what happened that afternoon or Sarah’s whereabouts, please call Dorset Police.”
The family also made a direct appeal to Sarah. “We miss you so much and just want to know you are ok. Please contact us or the charity Missing People at any time.”
Detective Constable Rachel Skinner, of Dorset Police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have been on the Condor Rapide on Sunday 1 April 2012 and did not speak to police at the time, to please make contact.
“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
