The Wimborne BID have developed a Summer programme in association with Kissing My Elbow Productions, Activate and East Dorset District Council as part of The Sting in the Tale Storytelling Festival, encouraging visitors and residents to take part in an alien adventure.
Says BID Chairman Ian Faulkner, “Yes that’s right, Wimborne is welcoming alien visitors with open arms this month. There will be an alien spaceship parked in Wimborne Minster Square and the Ministry of Alien Visitation Intelligence and Security (MAVIS) will be responsible for the monitoring of alien visits, which is all a part of our summer activities programme for families visiting the town… I promise you all of these aliens are friendly!”
The following extraterrestrial events will take place this month:
Landing Event (FREE)
Sunday 9 August 2015, 12.30pm
The alien spaceship will have landed in Wimborne Minster Square. The young people of Activate Remix Theatre will perform to welcome these friendly aliens.
Can they communicate with the spaceship? Can the audience help?
Look out, as the aliens have been known to have a strange effect on earthlings! The audience are invited to come in alien fancy dress, and prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
The spaceship will be in Wimborne every day between 9 and 17 August and forms part of the Alien Trail.
M.A.V.I.S
The Ministry of Alien Visitation Intelligence and Security is responsible for the monitoring of alien visits to Earth. MAVIS undercover sleeper agents are placed within communities across Britain, from tiny hamlets to major cities. They monitor alien activity and prepare for inter-planetary visits. Active agents wear distinctive uniforms of full white body suits and dark glasses. Reports have been circulating that MAVIS agents are currently active in Wimborne Minster.
The Ministry welcomes alien tourism (and their contribution to the local economy), however, they do remind people that we all have work to do and strongly advise, ‘Just Don’t Dance.’
The Alien Trail (free)
9 – 17 August
Evidence of the aliens’ presence is apparent in shops, cafés and other businesses around the town. Children can collect an Alien Trail map and passport from the ‘invaded’ venues, the library and the Tourist Information Centre. Passports can be stamped by participating entities.
THE ALIEN STORY TOUR (£6 adults, £4 children)
Sunday 9, Tuesday 11 and Sunday 16 August, 11 am and 2pm
Tickets from Wimborne Minster Tourist Information Centre
Where have our extra-terrestrial visitors been? Popular local storyteller Michele O’Brien, and comedian and performer Deborah Seeley lead walking story tours along the alien trail to try and find out.
