Poole police are appealing for witnesses after an alleged attempted theft of a rucksack in the town centre.
The incident, in which a man allegedly attempted to steal a rucksack from a pushchair, took place at approximately 2pm on Saturday 14 June outside Halfords on the High Street.
The alleged offender, described as white, with short greying hair and wearing a grey top, was chased by two members of the public and escorted back to the scene with the rucksack, where street wardens arrived to assist.
PS Simon Perry said: “As this incident took place in broad daylight and on a busy street I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened to contact police.
“In particular I would like to speak to one of the helpful men who apprehended the suspect and brought him back to the scene.
“He is described as white and was wearing a black vest style T-shirt.
“The victim would also like to express her thanks to the members of the public who helped her during the incident.”
A 41-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of theft and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
