Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a report that a chemical substance was squirted into the face of a man in Christchurch on Friday, 14 November.
The victim, a 19-year-old Christchurch man, was about to get into a car which was parked outside McColls newsagents in Somerford Road at around 6.40pm when two men appeared.
It is alleged that as the victim turned round, a liquid substance was squirted into his eyes from a Lucozade bottle.
Detective Sergeant Jamie Halford, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I am only now in a position to release the details of this case.
“The victim required hospital treatment following this attack.
“I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident, or has any information about those involved, to contact Dorset Police.
“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
One of the men is described as white, aged in his early 20s, five feet eight inches tall and of average build. He was wearing a black hooded top and black trousers.
The second man is described as white, aged in his early 20s, five feet 11 inches tall, with short light brown hair and had stubble. He was wearing dark clothing.
A 17-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
