An interview with the Jolliffe’s team
Questions and answers with the team asking how the Ferndown rebuild and refurbishment is impacting their day to day, and how the new building will benefit the wider Ferndown community.
Are you excited for your new premises to open? If so, what are you most looking forward to?
We are all very excited! The old building was looking tired and dated so we are looking forward to walking into a fresh new building.
What impact will the new office make on the community and your funerals?
The refurbishment means we will now have our own service chapel on site. This allows us to provide our families with a lovely space for services and wakes which we couldn’t do before.
It will also allow us to use our facilities for the wider community such as support groups and events. We will also have a Garden of Reflection which will provide our families with a quiet place to escape to and reflect.
How has the transition been from office to temporary building?
Surprisingly very quick. We were up and running business as usual within a few hours after giving over the building to Greendale (our builders).
Did you have any input in the designs made for the new project?
We were shown the drawings of the building and interior mood boards and were then asked for our input in the details and interior. The architects and builders are always keen to hear our views whilst on-site as well.
Will your new building be a benefit to your work life? If so, how?
We will be able to be more flexible with what we can offer to our families, for example having the use of our service chapel. By having the chapels of rest as part of the main building it also makes it easier for the family and ourselves. The new building also has a fully equipped kitchen so we will have a good staff space to enjoy our lunch breaks, as well as changing rooms for when we are getting ready for a funeral.
