Dorset Agricultural Society to host annual Spring Show
The Dorset Agricultural Society is inviting members of the public to attend its annual Spring Show on Sunday 25 March, hoping many will also enter the wide-ranging competitions on offer.
The show, open from 2-4pm is being held at Sunninghill School Hall in Dorchester, and is free to attend. Those who would like to enter have a wide range of competitions to choose from, including traditional horticultural classes, photography, cookery, and flower-arranging classes. The fee to enter the classes is 60p and the deadline for entries is Monday, 19 March. Prize money is given to the top three entries of each class.
Children also have the chance to enter the show with a range of children’s classes open to those aged 16 and under. These include a drawing competition and an Easter-themed fairy cake decorating competition.
Will Hyde, show secretary, said, “There is something for everyone at this year’s Spring Show with classes open for all ages; the whole family can take part and enjoy the annual show.
“Our largest number of classes is for our daffodils, with 34 classes to choose from it is the largest competitive display of daffodils in the county, and is run in accordance with the Daffodil Society. Participants also have the opportunity to enter classes for tulips, primroses, cacti and succulents. We even have novice classes, which ensure people who haven’t entered before are given a fair chance in the competition.
“We look forward to welcoming both new and familiar faces on the day and celebrating the start of spring together.”
Refreshments will be on sale during the show and it is supported by Dorset County Show, P&M Read Florist, Bramcote Bulbs and R.A. Scamp Quality Daffodils.
