A week-long dig will take place at Buckler’s Hard in a joint archaeological excavation by the Beaulieu Estate and New Forest National Park Authority as part of the national Festival of Archaeology.
The dig will focus on locating and identifying buildings that are recorded on old maps of the Shipyard, which belong to the Beaulieu Estate.
Volunteers are invited to take part between 18 and 24 July, in a team led by the New Forest National Park Authority. Up to 10 volunteers can participate daily, helping either with excavation or research work. All volunteers will be invited to attend a traditional ‘after-dig’ party on site on the final day.
