The Nightjar heaved on 5 June at the launch of the Voice of Ferndown organised by Ferndown Chamber of Commerce.
Punchy performances by professional comedian Matt Black, Agagaga and a surprise cameo by Richard from the Stone Lounge kept the entertainment flowing.
But the real stars of the night were the young people who entered the talent competition there and then. Performances were recorded and can be found on YouTube, where you can show your support for the acts you like best.
‘I Dreamed a Dream’ by 12-year-old Nicole McNally stunned the audience. ‘The Prayer’ was a brave and beautiful choice by 15-year-old Jenny Osborne. In complete contrast, Nick Braunton, 23, punked up the show with ‘American Idiot’ and Kelly De Jong, 19, a popular singer at the Barrington Centre followed with ‘I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker’.
There is still time to enter.
The most ‘liked’ acts will go through to the staged events on 14 September and 16 finalists will perform live at the Barrington Centre on 4 October 2013 in front of the judges. They are Matt Black who has also put up the main prize of a recording session at Hangover Hill Studios; professional agent Tara Nix; the Mayor of Ferndown and local businesswoman Sharon Worsfold.
