A man who robbed a convenience store armed with a knife has been jailed for three years and four months.
Samuel Reeves, 31 and of no fixed abode, was handed the jail term at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 19 February, after pleading guilty to robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
The court heard that at around 7.10am on 11 August 2015, Reeves entered McColls convenience store, Blandford Road, with an unknown accomplice. He threatened a member of staff with a knife and told the victim to take him to the safe.
They moved to the back of the store where the accomplice filled up a holdall with cash, cigarettes and alcohol. The pair then left through the back door. No one was physically injured in the incident.
Reeves was identified and arrested thanks to forensic evidence left at the scene.
Detective Inspector Fiona Gaffney, of Bournemouth CID said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the staff in the store at the time.
“This sentence should send out a very clear message that this behaviour will not be tolerated and we will bring you to justice.”
