Arrest, release and witness appeals by Dorset Police
Separate incidents with different outcomes plus two witness appeals as Dorset Police continues to tackle crime in the local area
Ferndown – man arrested
A 43-year-old local man has been arrested in connection with a reported burglary at a store in Ferndown on 24 September at 3.30am when a black Hyundai Ioniq was driven into Pedal Cycles store in Ringwood Road and two electric scooters were taken.
A further report was received that the Hyundai had been located on fire in Milhams Road in Bournemouth.
It was subsequently established that the vehicle had been stolen from an address in Ferndown during the early hours of 24 September.
Following enquiries, a 43-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of burglary. He has been released under investigation as detectives carry out further enquiries.
Poole – man released
In an entirely separate incident in Poole, a man who was arrested in connection with a report of assault on a man in his 60s in a wheelchair on Poole Quay on 9 September will face no further police action.
The 39-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of assault and subsequently released under investigation. Following further enquiries, he has now been released from under investigation and will face no further police action. Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Witness appeal – Poole
In Poole, police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a fail-to-stop serious injury collision that occurred at around 10.30pm on Sunday 3 October and involved a vehicle and a pedestrian on Poole Road.
It is reported that the vehicle, possibly a red Citroen C2, failed to stop at the scene.
The pedestrian – a man in his 20s from Bournemouth – was taken to hospital with broken ribs and a fractured pelvis.
Police sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said: “An investigation is underway to locate the vehicle and driver involved, including assessing CCTV footage.
“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened, or may have relevant dashcam to assist my enquiries, to please come forward.
“I am keen to hear from anyone who is aware of a red Citroen C2 that has been damaged since Sunday and would ask you to please contact Dorset Police.
“Finally, I would urge the driver to please come forward so we can take your account and establish what happened.”

Witness appeal – Ferndown
If you were in Ringwood Road in Ferndown town centre on Tuesday 5 October, you may have witnessed this accident.
A man in his 90s sustained life threatening injuries in a collision with a lorry in Ferndown on Tuesday 5 October.
The incident, which took place at around 5.30pm involved a white artic lorry near to the White Heather pub on Ringwood Road.
The pedestrian was taken to Southampton General Hospital by the ambulance service.
Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said: “An investigation is underway and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to please contact Dorset Police.
“I would also urge any motorists who were travelling in the area at the relevant time to please check their dashcams for any footage of the incident that may assist my enquiries.
“Finally, I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
