Art exhibition opens in Wimborne
A Celebration of Landscape and Dorset Art is being held at Church House in Wimborne Minster until 4 December.
More than 100 works by 10 artists are on display at the Winter Exhibition being staged by Dorset Artists Guild in Wimborne’s Church House.
With the theme ‘A Celebration of Landscape and Dorset Art’, visitors can expect to see iconic Dorset scenes including Corfe Castle, Studland Bay and Wimborne itself captured on canvas, alongside evocative international vistas—from Venetian waterways to Greek fishing ports and glowing Italian sunsets. There are also striking depictions of flowers, birds and wildlife from the Dorset coast and countryside.
Katie Bourne, founder of Dorset Artists Guild, said: “The Guild is a collective of professional artists from across Dorset. We’re delighted to be back in Wimborne for a third exhibition this year and to bring together such a prestigious group of artists from across the county.”
Visitors can enjoy work by 10 respected artists: Kimberley Day, Sue Fawthrop, Rob Adams, Ben Winter, Ian Hargreaves, Claire Tozer, Cliff Towler, Tom Marshall, Sue Smith and Nicole Tudor-Williams.
Alongside her successful career as a concept artist in the film industry, Kimberley Day, from the Isle of Purbeck, devotes the rest of her time to painting abstract landscapes inspired by the local environment, which she explores on foot, bike and in the sea.
She said: “The act of making art tends to be very private, so to have this opportunity to come together with other Dorset-based artists and exhibit our work in unison is a wonderful opportunity—not just for art lovers but for us as creators too.”
The exhibition is free and open from 10am until 5pm, closing at midday on 4 December. It can also be viewed online via www.dorsetartistguild.co.uk.
