20 September – 12 October 2013, with free outdoor opening weekend 20-22 September
Bournemouth’s Arts by the Sea Festival will have a wonderful array of musical talent in this, its third year – spanning films accompanied by live score from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) through to classical Paginini by candlelight in the historic Shelley Theatre.Festival audiences can also enjoy swing and jive from The Regular Joes, live performance from skiffle band The Dodge Brothers and music in the Lower Gardens during the Opening Weekend from the peripatetic Rimiski Piano, Ramshacklicious’ The Sad Band Experience and, in a fitting tribute to the 1950s’ British beach holiday experience, music and singing from Mr Wippy & the Conettes.
Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival offers over 50 awe-inspiring arts events over three weeks – a programme of highly original music, dance and arts performances, film, visual arts and spoken work in unusual spaces across the town. The Festival is funded by an Arts Council Grant for the Arts and Bournemouth Borough Council. Headline sponsor is Arts University College Bournemouth.
