David Lewis is the new Assistant Chief Constable for Dorset. Currently an Assistant Chief Constable at the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Office in London, where he works as Chief of Staff to Head of ACPO Sir Hugh Orde, he is due to take up the post in July.
Chief Constable, Debbie Simpson explained that the appointment followed a closely fought, competitive process and added, “He has a wealth of policing experience on both a local and national level and I’m confident he will be an asset to the force.
“I would like to offer my congratulations to Mr Lewis and look forward to working closely with him to help make Dorset safer.”
David Lewis said, “Dorset is an outstanding police force and I am absolutely delighted to be joining it. I have already found a team of professionals who take great pride in serving the people of Dorset and making the county a safer place. I am very grateful for the warm welcome that I have received and look forward to taking my place in the team.”
The appointment of David Lewis follows the retirement of former Assistant Chief Constable Adrian Whiting.
