Detectives investigating an attempted armed robbery in Boscombe are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
The incident happened at 10.40pm on Monday (1 February) at the Premier store on Christchurch Road.
It was reported that a man entered the shop, threatened staff with a kitchen knife and demanded cash. No money was handed over and the man made off in the direction of the train station.
Described as white, approximately 40 years old, of a wide build and about five feet six inches tall, the suspect had a dirty face and a beard and appeared to be under the influence of drink or drugs. He was wearing a green jacket, dark trousers, a black hat and a scarf.
Officers, including armed police, attended the scene and carried out a search of the area, but no arrests were made.
Detective Constable Scott Brimicombe, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I am now able to release CCTV images of the suspect.
“I am aware that the images do not show his face very well, but I would urge anyone who may recognise the man from his stance or clothing to come forward.
“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen this person in the area before or after the incident or has witnessed anything suspicious at the relevant times.
“Anyone with information that could assist with my enquiries should contact Dorset Police on 101.”
