A huge and evocative collection of diecast vintage toys from the 1960s and 1970s are to be sold by Lawrences Auctioneers of Crewkerne.
Formerly part of the stock of Webber’s Bike and Toy Shop in Taunton, these toys were retained by the owners when the shop closed in the 1970s and they have remained in the family ever since. Included are various model toys from the 1970s in excellent condition, many still with the shop stickers on and perfectly preserved in their original boxes. Some show that they were being sold for just 50p to £1 each.
The collection comprises dozens of Dinky Toys, Corgi Toys, Triang, Wrenn, Hornby, Britains and various others. They will be sold in a variety of lots with estimates ranging from £50-£150.
Lawrences Auctioneer Simon Jones said, “It is very unusual to see vintage toys in such amazing condition. They have been very carefully stored and some of items have never ever been opened! We are expecting a great deal of interest in this collection. It is rare to find so many in literally untouched condition and anyone born in the late 1950s and 1960s will find much to remind them of their childhood here.”
These toys will be sold in Lawrences Collectors Sale, on Friday 22 May. For further enquiries please contact Simon Jones on 01460 73041.
