Avonbourne Trust is celebrating some of its best ever GCSE results.
The Trust is an early adopter of the government’s new Progress 8 performance measure – which will be introduced for all secondary schools from next year.
Avonbourne College has scored +2.5 in Progress 8, which means far more students are exceeding the level they were at when they first joined school at 11. The national threshold is -.5
The school has also recorded some of its best ever A*to C grades across a range of subjects; including 70% for English Language, 63% for Maths, 93% for Physics, 91% for Geography, 82% for Business Studies and a perfect score of 100% in Music.
Among its success stories were Charlotte Evans who achieved six A*s, six As and a B, Polly Herbert who scored five A*s and seven As, Izzy Liversidge with five A*s, five As and one B and Lily McDermaid who achieved five A*s and six As.
Fellow Trust school Harewood College is also an early adapter of Progress 8 and scored -2.7 – which is above the national threshold.
Among its success stories were Moinul Uddin who achieved four As, five Bs and one C, Adam Primmer who scored two A*s, seven As, two Bs and Patrick Spiteri with four As and seven Bs.
Executive headteacher of Avonbourne Trust, Debbie Godfrey-Phaure, said: “We are early adopters of Progress 8, which is what all schools will be measured against from next year.
“What Progress 8 statistics show is the journey students take from 11 to 16 and the progress they make and gives a greater reflection of how well they have done.
“I’d like to congratulate all our students on their individual achievements, of which there have been many.”
