A celebration of small businesses across the UK will take place on 3 December 2016.
Bear It In Mind, based in Hythe, is one of 100 small businesses that will be featured, one a day, in the 100 days leading up to SBS, Small Business Saturday.
By putting small companies in the spotlight, SBS will encourage consumers to support their communities and “shop local” as well as generating increased promotion and awareness of smaller businesses.
A member of the Federation of Small Businesses, Bear It In Mind specialises in the repair, restoration and cleaning of teddy bears and other soft toys.
Julie Tatchell, founder and owner of Bear It In Mind, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been selected as one of the Small Business Saturday’s 100. It was a fantastic and encouraging surprise and we intend to use this exciting opportunity to further introduce people to the work we do at the same time as meeting and talking with other business who may be able to help us further develop our business plan.
“We are looking forward to sharing our business practices with interested parties on our special day, as well as joining the ‘bus tour’ when it comes to Bournemouth in November. On 3 December we will also be offering a 10% discount on our services to anyone who contacts us on the day.
“Bear It In Mind is celebrating 10 years in business this year and this accolade couldn’t have come at a better time for us.”
Participation in Small Business Saturday is free, and any small businesses can get involved. In addition to the big day, the campaign also aims to deliver help and advice alongside opportunities to connect with other small businesses.
Neil Eames, Development Manager for the FSB said: ‘We are delighted to support the Small Business Saturday campaign. It provides an opportunity to show consumers why they should support our small firms every day. It is vital to keep trade local for residents to support their local business community. Bear It In Mind are one of our successful small businesses locally and we are delighted that they have earned the opportunity for national recognition.”
Neil added: “When consumers see the diversity and value on offer, we hope it will make them more inclined to use local small firms, leading to booming local economies. The UK’s 5.2 million small businesses are driving the economic recovery and Small Business Saturday helps to remind us what fantastic firms are out there.”
Small businesses continue to make an enormous contribution to the economy and Small Business Saturday is a vital reminder that the country needs to celebrate small businesses not just on one day, but all year round.
