The clock was wound back to the 1940s at the recent Theatre 2000 production of musical comedy Betty Blue Eyes at the Regent Centre in Christchurch.
Set in 1947, the show is based on the film A Private Function by Alan Bennett and Malcolm Mowbray and centres on an adorable pig called Betty.
Among the audience during the matinee show was an 11-strong group from Colten Care’s Fernhill home in Longham.
The visit came about after Karen Grant A’Court, activity organiser at the home and a keen amateur actress, was invited to play two characters and join the ensemble as a singer and dancer.
Karen said: “Everyone in the party enjoyed the nostalgia including the costumes, jitterbug dances and ration books. All the residents were given a miniature pig as a memento of their visit. One said it was her favourite animal. We thank the theatre staff for all their help on the day.”
