With a blue and gold-themed display, representing the town’s colours, Bournemouth’s biggest fireworks party celebrated its 20th anniversary in style at the Littledown Centre.
As in previous years the three fireworks displays were designed by the international award-winning team at Pains Fireworks with operations manager Peter Theakston, one of the world’s leading pyrotechnicians, flying in.
“It was a terrific night and absolutely perfect for fireworks,” he says. “We design displays all over the world but ever since 1996 Bournemouth Fireworks has been the friendliest and most enjoyable night of the year. Everyone has a great time and there’s always an amazing atmosphere.”
More than 8,000 spectators enjoyed firework displays as well as other entertainment including live music from Bournemouth Samba Band and have-a-go sports sessions on the artificial pitches with coaches from local football, rugby, cricket, tennis and golf clubs on hand, as well as yBall, the new game invented at the Littledown.
“We had a lot of people travel from further afield to sample Bournemouth Fireworks for the first time and the feedback was incredibly positive,” said Michael Callaghan, event director. “It was a great night for Bournemouth. Now the pressure is on again to make next year’s event even better.”
