Officers have recovered a bicycle believed to have been stolen from the Ferndown area and are searching for its owner.
The alleged theft happened on Wednesday 4 February around 2am when a man was stopped by officers along Victoria Road.
It is believed the bicycle, described as a grey specialised Sirrus Hybrid, may have been taken from the Albert Road/Library Road area.
A 20-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of theft and bailed until end of March 2015.
Police Constable Ben King, of Ferndown police, said: “I am appealing for people in the Ferndown area to check their sheds, garages and gardens to see whether they may be missing a bicycle.
“If you think you may have been the victim of this theft please call 101 quoting incident number 4:13.
“Anyone who may have witnessed the alleged theft or have any information about it should contact Dorset Police in confidence.
“I would like to remind residents to keep bicycles and other valuables secure to ensure you don’t become a victim of crime.”
