Blandford brewers raise £66,000 on Charity Day
As part of the initiative by Hall & Woodhouse, more than £33,000 has been donated to Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
Hall & Woodhouse has donated £66,000 to charity following its Charity Day, with £33,607 going to Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
On Tuesday 4 November, the Blandford-based brewery donated 50 per cent of net sales generated from its Managed House estate. Pubs included The Olive Branch in Wimborne, The Quay in Poole, and The Grasshopper in Parkstone.
The overall donation was split between several charitable causes across the South, with 25 per cent of sales made at each pub donated directly to its own chosen charity partner. Other notable charities to receive donations include Dorset Mind, which will receive a donation of over £2,400, and The Lantern Trust, which is to be gifted over £1,860.
Richard Curtis, head of charity at Hall & Woodhouse, said: “2025 marks our fourth annual Charity Day. Making people’s day and supporting our communities sits at the heart of everything we do; whether through exceptional hospitality for our guests, or ongoing local fundraising efforts across our estate.
“Charity Day gives us the opportunity to make an even greater impact within the communities we are so proud to be part of. Thank you to all our guests who dined with us on Tuesday 4 November, it’s thanks to you that we’ve been able to make such a significant donation to such deserving causes.”
Clare Gallie, chief executive of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity shown by Hall & Woodhouse and everyone who dined in their pubs on Charity Day. The incredible donation will have a lasting impact on local people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
“As an independent hospice, we rely heavily on the kindness of our wonderful Dorset community and partners like Hall & Woodhouse. Every year, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care needs to raise over £4.2 million to keep our vital services running, as only 12 per cent of these funds come from NHS Dorset.
“The generosity of others helps ensure that Dorset patients can access free, specialist hospice care in their homes, in our hubs, virtually, or wherever they feel most comfortable. We’re so grateful for this continued partnership and for the heartfelt commitment Hall & Woodhouse makes to supporting its local communities.”
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care supports people facing life-limiting illnesses and their families. The charity’s care approach sees every person receive an individual support plan that may include hospice-at-home care, bereavement counselling, lymphoedema clinic, complementary therapies, or breathlessness support.
In 2024, Hall & Woodhouse contributed over £800,000 to charitable causes and is on target to exceed that figure in 2025.
