Blandford Repair Café celebrates third birthday
A repair café helping residents in Blandford Forum repair their household items opened three years ago.
It has been three productive years since the Blandford Repair Cafe opened in the town under the leadership of Carole de Saram and initially located at the Old Grainstore Emporium with permission of Sarah Damon.
Now lodged in the Blandford Scout Hut, the cafe continues to repair, adjust and make reusable items for customers which would previously have be confined to the dustbin. The cafe meets once each month, with volunteers offering to attempt to fix broken items including electrical items, bikes, clothes, ceramics and more – all for free.
Sheila Chapman said: “The ever-expanding group of volunteer repairers continue to solve problems and use their skills to the best advantage for all the community.
“Besides the repairs, the cafe has assumed a reputation as a very enjoyable place to socialise while you wait, with refreshments served by ever-willing catering volunteers while the monthly raffle run by Paula adds fun to the proceedings.”
The cafe meets from 1.30pm to 4pm once per month at the Scout Hut. Future meetings will take place on Saturday 27 January, Saturday 24 February and Sunday 24 March. For more information about the group, visit https://www.blandfordrepaircafe.co.uk.
