Year 7 pupils at Bournemouth’s Bishop of Winchester Academy received a series of workshops covering the Jurassic Coast as part of the Bournemouth University’s STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths). The two hour interactive classes gave the pupils a fascinating insight into the creatures from both the Jurassic and Cretaceous period, and also the work of people who work in palaeontology.
Science Teacher Linda Green thanked the university’s STEM outreach officer Naomi Capell and her team for the workshop series.
“The sessions have been really appreciated by the classes,” said Linda. “The thought that they can go fossil hunting along parts the Dorset coastline and that people really do work within palaeontology as scientists, not just in films, has been inspiring to many of them.”
