Book signing at RSPB Arne
Meet author Sophie Pavelle and find out what inspired her to write her book ‘Forget Me Not’ at RSPB Arne nature reserve, near Wareham.
Join author Sophie Pavelle on a low-carbon journey around Britain in search of 10 animals and habitats threatened by climate change in the 21st century.
Sophie Pavelle will be in the RSPB Arne Cafe garden tent for a talk and Q&A session about her new book ‘Forget Me Not’ on 27 October at 1pm with a book signing afterwards.
Travelling the length of Britain on foot, by bicycle, in an electric car, by kayak, on cargo ferries and in lots of trains, Pavelle challenges herself to travel the low carbon way. From Bodmin to the Orkney Islands, she encounters wildlife and habitats on the front line of climate change in Britain.
In her engaging style she asks some serious questions – which species are going to be seriously affected, and why? Which species might turn the corner and bounce back from the brink?
‘Forget Me Not’ is a clarion call and it is hopeful. Pavelle wants us to better understand these species, from the harbour porpoise and grey long-eared bat, to the Atlantic salmon and the mountain hare, and she talks to experts to explain more about the problems they face and what can be done for the future.
Pavelle is a writer and science communicator. Sharing stories about British nature to wide audiences, she puts a contemporary twist on the natural history genre. She works for Beaver Trust, and presented their award-winning documentary ‘Beavers Without Borders’. She is also an Ambassador for The Wildlife Trusts and sits on the RSPB England Advisory Committee.
This is a free event and booking is not required, however, entry charge for nature reserve applies: £5 per adult and £2.50 per child. RSPB members get free entry.
Books will be available to buy from the shop.
