Following the discovery of the body of a 22-year-old local man in a flat in Mallard Grange, Sea Road at around midday on Tuesday 26 May, police have arrested a 25-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, both from Bournemouth on suspicion of murder. They were arrested at 3.50pm the same day in Weymouth and are helping police with their enquiries.
The murder investigation is being led by detectives from Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team and Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Stewart Balmer said: “We are still building a picture of exactly what happened.”
The man, who has not been formally identified is believed by police to be Phillip Nicholson of Poole.
The police are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Sea Road area of Boscombe on 26 May or who has any other information that could be useful, to get in touch.
“We’d also like to speak to anyone who had recent contact with Phillip Nicholson or who may have any information that may support the inquiry,” added DCI Balmer.
A cordon has been put in place at the address in Sea Road and is expected to remain there for some time while crime scene investigators carry out a thorough examination.
Officers are also carrying out house-to-house enquiries.
The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being kept updated by specially-trained officers. The coroner has been notified.
