Performing for the first time at this year’s Air Festival is the world-famous Breitling Jet Team.
They have not displayed at a UK civilian airshow for nearly 15 years, and have never displayed on the south coast of England.
Their fast and powerful aircraft are piloted by incredible flying aces representing precision, speed and daring skill – at times they fly within three metres of each other at speeds of over 700km/h.
Jon Weaver Air Festival director said, “It’s great news. It’s a first for the resort, the event and the jet team.”
He added that the show had been trying for eight years to secure the them. “We are really excited to welcome them to Bournemouth – this really sets the tone of the strong line-up we have this year,” he said.
One of the premier aerobatic display teams, the Red Arrows, will also be gracing the skies on Friday at 3pm and Saturday at 12 noon, so turn your head skyward for their jaw dropping displays.
Men in jet suits, helicopters, activities, stalls, parachute displays, Spitfire, Hurricane, Dakota, wing walkers and much more including army, navy and royal marine villages. It’s all happening down on the seafront now and it’s a free festival, so pitch up and enjoy from Bournemouth’s award-winning sandy beaches, where some of the action will be taking place. The displays don’t stop at night either. Otto the Helicopter is back again to add some explosive entertainment to the dusk flying displays, which also include the Breathing Jet Team.
The 11th Air Festival in Bournemouth runs until 2 September.
