Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce (BCTC) is encouraging the town’s businesses to let their imagination take flight by taking part in a competition to decorate their windows and shop fronts for Bournemouth Air Festival. The festival, which takes place from 20 – 23 August, is one of the region’s biggest events attracting more than 1.2million festival goers in 2014 and generating in excess of £25 million for the town. It was recently voted the Best Tourism Event in the prestigious Visit England Awards for Excellence 2015.
BCTC Past President, Mandy Payne of Spotcheckers, who is coordinating the competition said: “The window display competition is a great way for local businesses to really enter into the spirit of the Bournemouth”Air Festival. With so many visitors, it’s a fantastic opportunity to contribute to, and benefit from, the ‘feel good’ atmosphere and real excitement generated by the festival.”
Businesses taking part in the Competition need to have their window displays and decorations in place by the 12 August. This is when the public can start voting by texting for their favourite. There will also be a separate judge’s choice too, for which judging will take place from 18 – 23 August. Winners for both will be announced on 24 August and awards and cash prizes will be given at a special presentation at the BCTC BH Banter event on 7 September.
