Bournemouth and Poole College to hold open day
Prospective students will need to book for this final open event of the academic year which is to be held on Thursday 7 May.
Bournemouth and Poole College is holding its final open event of the academic year on Thursday 7 May, from 4pm to 7pm.
Taking place across the College’s three campuses in Bournemouth, Poole and Fulcrum, the open day will spotlight more than 200 options currently available to young people post-16, including vocational courses, T Levels and apprenticeships.
Prospective students can explore the learning environments, which include the college’s new £1.1million Health and Care Academy and £1.5 million Engineering Centre, both of which launched last summer, and the innovative £1m Green Energy Centre, which opened last autumn.
Those registering for the September intake will also be the first cohort to benefit from the college’s new Compass Building – a £37m redevelopment at the Bournemouth campus set to open this autumn, providing a state-of-the-art teaching environment across subjects including business, media, hair and beauty and sport.
The open event is free to attend, but visitors will need to register for a ticket in advance at thecollege.co.uk/open.
It comes month on from the college’s oversubscribed annual Apprenticeships Unlocked event, and ahead of the start of GCSE exam season, when many students across the conurbation and beyond are considering their next steps.
Phil Sayles, principal and chief executive of Bournemouth and Poole College, said:
“May is a notoriously tense month in any household with a teenager. This open event is really about providing support and guidance. If a student can walk through our doors, explore their options, and solidify their plans for September before the exam season kicks off, the rest of the summer looks a lot brighter.”
Visitors will be able to meet expert teaching and support staff, ask questions about courses, and talk to dedicated careers advisors, on hand throughout the event to offer guidance tailored to individual interests, strengths and long-term goals. For those ready to take the next step, applications can be made on the day.
