Bournemouth burglar caught on CCTV is behind bars

Burglar David Michael Vye was caught on an elderly couple’s CCTV, and subsequently he faces 100 weeks in prison.

An elderly couple are thankful that they had CCTV installed as the man who burgled them was caught and jailed.

David Michael Vye, 26, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to burglary and breach of a criminal behaviour order at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 15 September 2025.

At 6am on Wednesday 9 July 2025, the occupants of the home in Kinson woke up and realised that they had been burgled.

They discovered that items had been moved and drawers and cupboards had been searched.

Gold jewellery was stolen, as well as a set of keys, bank card, sunglasses and cash.

The occupants of the property then checked their cameras to find out what had happened.

At around 2.10am, a figure appeared in the garden and entered the property, before returning a few hours later at around 4.40am carrying a bag.

An investigation was launched, and officers reviewed the CCTV footage and were able to identify Vye as the offender. A forensic examination of the scene was carried out, which also linked Vye to the scene.

On Friday 12 September 2025, officers were called to the Co-op in Kinson Road to a report of shoplifting. Vye was detained by security staff and subsequently arrested for breaching a criminal behaviour order, which prevents him from entering the shop.

Vye was later further arrested in connection with the burglary.

He was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 17 October 2025 to 100 weeks in prison.

“As a Force, we remain absolutely committed to reducing burglaries and thoroughly investigating reported incidents to ensure that those involved are held accountable for their actions.”
